Company
hirify.global is a US-based global power company developing renewable energy and integrated power systems across multiple countries.
What you will do
Lead integrated control architectures for solar PV, battery storage, fuel cells, synchronous generation, utility sources, switchgear, protection systems, and co-located critical loads.
Define control philosophies, functional specifications, operating modes, control-authority boundaries, sequences, interlocks, fallback modes, and fail-safe behavior.
Develop data center load integration, load-following, dispatch, reserve, energy-management, flexible-interconnection, curtailment, and ramp-rate control strategies.
Lead control validation through EMT studies, PSCAD model reviews, CHIL/PHIL testing, vendor testing, laboratory testing, and site commissioning.
Validate grid-connected and islanded operation, planned and unplanned islanding, synchronization, black start, restoration, load rejection, and recovery behavior.
Serve as a technical authority, lead multidisciplinary reviews, guide vendors and partners, mentor engineers, and resolve first-of-kind system-control issues.
Requirements
Master’s degree in controls engineering, power systems engineering, energy systems, electrical engineering, or a related field; PhD preferred.
Typically 8–12 years of experience in utility-scale power systems controls, microgrids, utility-scale generation, energy storage, or advanced control applications.
Deep understanding of grid-connected and islanded power systems, microgrid controls, grid-forming controls, synchronous generation, BESS, and renewable generation.
Experience developing control architectures, control philosophies, operating sequences, operating modes, and advanced system-control algorithms.
Experience with EMS, PPC, microgrid controllers, SCADA, and resource-level controls for integrated multi-resource systems.
Strong knowledge of multi-resource dispatch, BESS state-of-charge management, load following, load smoothing, reserve management, and flexible interconnection controls.
Working knowledge of PSCAD and EMT analysis, including reviewing models and simulation results for control interactions and system performance.
Experience leading CHIL, PHIL, factory, laboratory, and integrated system testing for complex power-system controls.
Knowledge of industrial communications, controls drawings, high-speed data acquisition, and protocols including Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850; field experience with system integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and multi-OEM power systems.
