TL;DR
Backend Software Engineer (Geospatial): Building scalable data-processing systems and developer-facing tools for globally used mapping platforms with an accent on distributed systems, large datasets, and geospatial data. Focus on designing backend architecture, improving performance and reliability, and solving complex scalability challenges across high-volume processing pipelines.
Location: Hybrid, three days per week from the office in Malmö, Sweden; commuting is possible during the first three months, after which relocation to Sweden is required.
Salary: 2,400–2,880 PLN/day B2B (6,000–7,200 SEK/MD).

What you will do
- Identify requirements, propose technical solutions, and deliver new features end to end.
- Design and develop scalable software systems and data-processing applications handling large volumes of data.
- Contribute to system architecture and technical design decisions.
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of existing systems.
- Collaborate with engineers, stakeholders, and international cross-functional engineering and product teams.
- Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Strong software engineering, system design, and problem-solving skills.
- Commercial experience with Scala, Java, C++, or similar backend technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark or Apache Flink.
- Experience building distributed and scalable systems.
- Ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward with limited guidance.
- Fluent English required.
Nice to have
- Experience in data engineering environments.
- Experience designing and developing APIs and REST services.
- Experience with Akka, Play Framework, or Spring.
- Knowledge of geospatial data, GIS systems, or mapping technologies.
- Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, JTS, GeoTools, or similar toolsets.
