Assistant Engineering Manager

Location: Kajang, Selangor, Malaysia; onsite

What you will do

• Support the Engineering Manager with daily operations and supervise shift Technicians, including task delegation.
• Oversee preventive and reactive maintenance for the distribution center, facilities, utilities, production equipment, and emergency repairs.
• Assist with engineering project planning, capital expenditure management, contractor bids, departmental expenses, and spare-parts inventory.
• Ensure compliance with local health and safety legislation, fire-safety protocols, building codes, and environmental or energy standards.
• Coordinate workflows between technical teams, operations, finance, senior management, and external vendors.
• Train team members, implement new systems, and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant technical or engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and oversee technical projects from planning through completion.
• Experience leading and monitoring equipment, systems, and technical infrastructure performance, maintenance, and reliability.
• Ability to identify operational issues and implement effective technical solutions to improve efficiency.
• Strong knowledge of technical operations, project management, and quality management systems.
• Excellent leadership, planning, organisational, analytical, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Software skills in AutoCAD for drawings, PLC/HMI access, and power management software related to energy.
