Software Engineer II - Mobile Apps (MedTech)

Location: Hybrid, 3 days per week onsite in San Diego, California, or Northridge, California, United States

Salary: $97,000–$165,000 USD annually for California locations.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, debug, and unit test complex mobile applications, components, and tools independently.
• Build mobile software for diabetes management across wearable medical devices, mobile applications, backend servers, and analytics systems.
• Interpret, analyze, and implement software requirements with system and software architects.
• Develop using Android Studio or Xcode and integrate mobile applications with REST/SOAP APIs and device databases.
• Collaborate with requirements, development, test, quality, and systems teams to ensure end-to-end product performance before and after release.
• Contribute to code, design, and implementation reviews in an agile/Scrum environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
• Experience developing and maintaining complex iOS or Android mobile applications.
• Expertise in at least one of Flutter, Dart, Java, Kotlin, C/C++, Objective-C, or Swift.
• Ability to design, develop, test, debug, and unit test mobile software independently.
• Knowledge of database operations on mobile devices and REST/SOAP API integration.
• Strong debugging, root-cause analysis, problem-solving, written communication, oral communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and work with architecture, requirements, development, test, quality, and systems teams.
• Experience working in an agile/Scrum environment and participating in product code and design reviews.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of mobile application security, including certificate pinning, TLS, and SSL.
• Deep understanding and experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
• Experience with cross-platform technologies such as Flutter.
• Experience coordinating with remote teams.
• Experience working in a regulated industry.
• Experience creating and maintaining software documentation, including design documents, class diagrams, and sequence diagrams.
