Compliance Specialist (Customs Trade Compliance)

Location: Onsite in Hawthorne, California, United States; reliable attendance at this work location is required. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 08:00–17:00; overtime may be required as needed.

Salary: USD 24.00–36.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Enforce brokerage operational standards, company policies, and applicable customs laws, including 19 CFR, import requirements, denied-party screening, sanctions, and embargoes.
• Conduct daily import, export, dangerous goods, ADD/CVD, customs rejection, and compliance-report reviews; identify root causes and track corrective actions.
• Manage customs bonds, ACH applications, post-entry activities, PSCs, protests, petitions, supplemental duty tenders, penalties, and liquidated damages.
• Monitor regulatory publications, maintain customs reference materials, communicate with Customs and PGA authorities, and report compliance results during self-audits.
• Prepare and deliver compliance training, support DG and export compliance certification, and maintain IATA and IMDG certifications.
• Work with operations leadership, sales, account management, and product leaders on risk mitigation, new business transitions, and compliance-related issues.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Authorization to work in the United States and successful completion of a background check are required.
• Effective verbal and written English communication is required.
• Ability to work overtime as needed, report reliably to the Hawthorne work location, work in a professional office environment, and perform basic mathematical calculations accurately.

Nice to have

• Associate or bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; strong organizational, time-management, research, follow-up, problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of applicable customs compliance laws and regulations, with the ability to work with clients, government officials, and employees at all levels.
• DG certification or willingness to obtain it; IATA/FIATA Cargo Certification or willingness to obtain it.
• U.S. Customs Broker license or a comparable non-U.S. license where available, or active pursuit with willingness to obtain it.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with demonstrated reliability, accountability, professionalism, customer-service orientation, and attention to detail.
