Manager, External Engagement (Biotech)

Location: United States - Remote; the role can be performed remotely in the U.S. and does not need to be based in Thousand Oaks, California. East Coast working hours are preferred.

Salary: $101,904.80–$137,871.20 annually in the U.S., excluding Puerto Rico.

What you will do

• Coordinate day-to-day operations across media relations, social media, and digital communications teams.
• Supervise Corporate Affairs material review processes and training to support compliance with company standards and regulations.
• Distribute global press releases and prepare media, social, and digital monitoring and performance reports.
• Manage external engagement vendors, contracts, relationships, budgets, purchase orders, and invoices.
• Lead integrated metrics, reporting, executive briefing materials, and external engagement plans across media, social, and digital channels.
• Support media pitching, social publishing, community management, digital content coordination, journalist database maintenance, and agency partner direction.

Requirements

• Doctorate degree; or a master’s degree plus 2 years of public relations, communications, and/or journalism experience; or a bachelor’s degree plus 4 years; or an associate’s degree plus 8 years; or a high school diploma/GED plus 10 years.
• Excellent consulting, writing, editing, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Close attention to detail, a collaborative spirit, proactive self-starter behavior, and commitment to operational excellence.
• Working knowledge of healthcare media, social platforms, and digital communications channels.
• Ability to work professionally with corporate leaders and managers and adapt quickly, analytically, and creatively in a dynamic environment.

Nice to have

• Five or more years of experience in public relations, social media, digital communications, and/or corporate communications.
• Biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical communications experience.
• Familiarity with media monitoring, social listening, digital publishing, and analytics tools and platforms.
• Experience working with or managing public relations, social media, or digital agency partners and vendor relationships.
