Solution Architect, Data Engineering (AI)

Location: New York City, NY, US

Salary: $160,000–$210,000 annually; compensation spans multiple levels and depends on skills, experience, budget, and location.

What you will do

• Lead solution design and architecture for mid-to-large-scale client engagements focused on data platforms, pipelines, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Define architecture patterns for data pipelines, composable stacks, API-first ecosystems, and AI/ML integration into data flows.
• Produce and present system diagrams, integration maps, ADRs, technical standards, and enterprise architecture roadmaps.
• Guide engineering teams through implementation, establish standards and documentation, and mentor engineers on architectural decisions.
• Run technical discovery workshops, requirements sessions, current-state assessments, gap analyses, and future-state planning with client stakeholders.
• Evaluate platforms and integrations, mitigate architectural risk, support pre-sales and RFP/SOW processes, and align solutions with security, privacy, compliance, and governance requirements.

Requirements

• 7+ years of software or data engineering experience, including 2+ years focused on architecture or solutions design.
• Broad expertise across cloud, APIs, data, and platform ecosystems, with experience designing scalable, maintainable distributed systems and enterprise API ecosystems.
• Deep expertise in cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift, including the ability to evaluate trade-offs.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL for data processing and ETL.
• Experience with data governance, privacy compliance, and security best practices.
• Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into data pipelines, exposure to GenAI applications, and hands-on experience with AI-powered coding, agentic engineering, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Experience working directly with client technical teams, translating business requirements into system designs, and advising client and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to produce and present architecture artifacts to technical and executive audiences and drive consensus across complex stakeholder environments.
• Experience working in an organization that is 50% technology and 50% creative talent.

• Experience across commerce, content, data, or infrastructure domains.
• Formal architecture training or certifications such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or TOGAF.
• Pre-sales technical consulting or solutions engineering experience.
• Familiarity with marketing data ecosystems and customer data platforms.
• Experience with digital transformation or platform migration programs.
