Data Engineer (Python/SQL)

Location: Remote within the United States; the posting also lists Sunnyvale / South Bay, CA.

Salary: $115,000–$165,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain data pipelines, transformations, reports, models, and platform components.
• Translate source-to-target and business requirements into validated technical data solutions.
• Implement data quality checks, access controls, monitoring, and failure-recovery procedures.
• Tune SQL, processing jobs, models, dashboards, and platform resources for performance and cost.
• Document data definitions, lineage, operational procedures, and technical decisions.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a related professional role, with the exact threshold matching the approved requisition.
• Professional experience in data engineering, analytics, data management, or a relevant platform area.
• Practical experience with SQL, Python or Scala, ETL/ELT, data modeling, Spark or equivalent processing, orchestration, and cloud data platforms.
• Strong SQL skills and practical experience with the role-specific data technologies.
• Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT, data validation, and integration patterns.
• Experience with data quality, security, access controls, and production support.
• Ability to translate business requirements into accurate and maintainable data solutions.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
• U.S. work eligibility is required: U.S. Citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates are encouraged to apply. New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Additional hands-on depth in SQL, Python or Scala, ETL/ELT, data modeling, Spark or equivalent processing, orchestration, and cloud data platforms.
• Experience with cloud services, automation, and modern delivery practices.
• Familiarity with secure development, accessibility, governance, or regulatory requirements.
• Relevant professional certifications or advanced training.
