Health, Safety, & Environmental Manager (Nuclear)

What you will do

• Lead implementation, operation, maintenance, and continual improvement of HSE management systems aligned with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
• Work with manufacturing and support teams to identify hazards, assess risks, investigate incidents and near misses, and implement practical safety and environmental solutions.
• Develop HSE strategy, safety initiatives, communications, training, emergency preparedness, and continual-improvement programmes.
• Coordinate audits, environmental-aspect monitoring, waste streams, legal and regulatory compliance, document control, registers, and HSE software.
• Manage and develop the HSE team, set KPIs, analyse monthly reports, and present progress to senior, executive, and corporate leadership.
• Engage employees, leadership, authorities, and other stakeholders through safety committees, briefings, coaching, and operational presence; participate in the out-of-hours emergency-response rota.

Requirements

• NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent qualification or experience.
• NEBOSH Fire Safety & Risk Management or equivalent qualification or experience.
• Proven HSE experience in a highly regulated manufacturing environment, such as nuclear, aerospace, or medical.
• Experience working with, continually developing, or implementing ISO management systems, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, or ISO 9001.
• Professional-level knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, statutory compliance across applicable jurisdictions, and HSE best practice.
• Strong problem-solving, incident-investigation, planning, organisational, written-communication, verbal-communication, and influencing skills.
• Ability to constructively challenge and influence stakeholders to prioritise and deliver safety excellence.
• IT literacy, including MS Office and HSE-related software packages.
• NEBOSH Diploma, IEMA Associate Certificate in Environmental Management, Tech IOSH membership, and BIFM Environmental Management Membership (IEMA).
