Senior HSE Advisor

Location: Westhill, Aberdeen, United Kingdom; full-time, permanent role. Security checks and the ability to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance are required.

What you will do

• Provide expert HSE guidance, assurance and constructive challenge to managers, project teams and operational personnel.
• Identify, assess and control HSE risks; support risk assessments, safe systems of work and Management of Change for complex operations.
• Lead HSE audits, inspections, assurance activities, incident investigations and root cause analysis, driving corrective actions to completion.
• Advise on RIDDOR reportability and statutory reporting requirements.
• Monitor HSE performance data, identify trends and emerging risks, and lead improvement initiatives, safety campaigns and workforce engagement.
• Support the HSE Management System, ISO 45001 alignment, stakeholder meetings and the development of HSE Advisors, managers and operational teams.

Requirements

• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6 in Occupational Health & Safety, or equivalent, with IOSH membership or progress toward membership.
• Proven HSE experience in manufacturing, engineering, marine or another high-risk operational environment.
• Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and HSE management systems, including ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Experience leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, corrective actions, HSE audits, inspections and assurance activities.
• Sound understanding of risk assessment, safe systems of work and risk management principles.
• Ability to provide pragmatic advice, influence stakeholders and constructively challenge where required.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including engagement at all levels.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment and competent use of Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain BPSS clearance.

Nice to have

• NEBOSH Fire Certificate.
• First Aid at Work, Fire Risk Assessor, PUWER Assessor or DSE Assessor qualifications.
• ISO 45001 Internal Auditor qualification.
