Senior Engineering Manager, Customer Runtimes (Cloud Infrastructure)

Location: Ireland, remote within the country. Scheduling flexibility is expected for collaboration with teams in North America and Europe, including cross-timezone standups and incident response.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a sizable team of software engineers through organizational changes, challenges, and uncertainty.
• Manage multiple critical projects and adapt execution to shifting priorities while considering on-call and operational burden.
• Set technical direction, lead architecture discussions, review critical code, and maintain a high standard of technical excellence.
• Align team priorities with organizational strategy and collaborate with 10–20 cross-functional stakeholders.
• Translate high-level goals into actionable work, provide feedback, and determine how work is allocated within the team.
• Drive the transformation of core customer infrastructure, expanding platform capabilities and reducing operational toil.

Requirements

• 12+ years of software development experience, including a strong foundation as a Staff or Principal Engineer.
• 3+ years of direct people management experience, including large global teams, Staff Engineer mentoring, and multiple subteams.
• Experience with performance management, engineering culture development, clear expectations, candid feedback, structured growth, and calibration.
• Proven ability to deliver multiple simultaneous projects while working directly with customers and external communities.
• Experience leading cloud and infrastructure modernization initiatives across large critical fleets.
• Direct experience designing platforms for cloud-based applications at broad scale.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, scalable cloud architectures, orchestration services, application services, relational databases, and application caches.
• Production experience running and automating large Linux-based fleets with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and dynamic provisioning systems.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms; working knowledge of Python, Golang, or another modern programming language.
• Strong communication skills and experience with Agile, Scrum, or another structured development methodology.
• Fluency with AI coding assistants and a clear perspective on how they change team workflows.
