Senior Project Engineer — Facilities & EHS

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; onsite

Company

Orbitworks, building on hirify.global's heritage, is developing commercial satellite mass-manufacturing capabilities in the United Arab Emirates and operates a 50,000-square-foot Abu Dhabi facility.

What you will do

• Lead facility expansion and infrastructure projects from requirements definition and technical scoping through contractor selection, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Translate stakeholder requirements into scopes, specifications, interfaces, schedules, budgets, acceptance criteria, and recovery plans.
• Coordinate architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire-protection, cleanroom, and utility interfaces.
• Manage contractors and consultants, bid evaluations, commercial controls, variations, quality inspections, defects, approvals, and reporting.
• Execute construction inside an occupied operating facility while controlling segregation, contamination, access, noise, vibration, shutdowns, and temporary services.
• Lead cleanroom and utility commissioning, job hazard analyses, field risk assessments, incident investigations, corrective actions, training, and operational handover.

Requirements

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, construction engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Approximately 7–12 years of relevant engineering and construction project delivery experience, including independent ownership.
• Demonstrated personal delivery of industrial facility buildouts or expansions from scope through commissioning and handover.
• Experience managing construction inside occupied operating facilities, including segregation, contamination control, shutdowns, temporary services, and safe restart.
• Direct cleanroom or controlled-environment project experience; general office fit-outs alone are insufficient.
• Technical depth in HVAC, electrical distribution, fire systems, building services, and utilities sufficient to challenge designs and identify interface gaps.
• Experience with contractor management, scoping, bid evaluation, progress verification, variation management, integrated planning, and commercial control.
• Practical knowledge of UAE construction delivery and local regulatory and approval processes.
• Hands-on EHS experience conducting or facilitating JHAs, implementing field controls, and investigating incidents and near misses.
• Strong commissioning and handover discipline, autonomy as an individual contributor, and the ability to drive outcomes through influence.
• Clear written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

• Experience delivering projects in Abu Dhabi or an industrial zone such as KEZAD.
• Facilities experience in satellite, aerospace, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or other precision manufacturing environments.
• Client-side project ownership experience.
• NEBOSH or equivalent EHS qualification; ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 implementation experience.
• PMP, APM, or equivalent project qualification.
• Cleanroom qualification or ISO 14644 familiarity.
• BIM coordination, clash review, contract administration, maintenance, and facility asset management experience.
• Training and coaching capability for supervisors, employees, and contractors.
