Risk Apprentice (Financial Services)

Location: Edinburgh, UK; hybrid working with attendance at the local office throughout the programme. Apprentices are expected to be in the office most days during the initial settling-in period.

Salary: £27,400 fixed apprenticeship salary.

What you will do

• Support colleagues in applying legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Identify and help reduce potential risks before they grow.
• Rotate through projects covering fraud prevention and regulatory compliance.
• Analyse risk situations and produce evidence-based reports for decision-makers.
• Communicate complex risk information clearly to colleagues and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old before the end of February 2028.
• Have achieved five National 5 qualifications at grades A–C, including Maths and English.
• Currently possess a valid Right to Work in the UK; the visa end date must extend beyond the programme duration of up to two years.
• Visa sponsorship is not available because the apprenticeship salary does not meet the Skilled Worker minimum threshold.

• Interest or foundational knowledge in risk and compliance within financial services.
• Analytical thinking, evidence-based reporting, and the ability to explain complex information simply.

Hiring process

• Submit an application and complete online assessments.
• If successful, attend the Assessment Centre in February.
• The programme starts in September 2027; applications close on 15 December 2026, although early closure is possible due to application volume.
