Senior Planner Buyer (Manufacturing)

Location: San Diego, California, United States; onsite

Annual salary: $90,000–$120,000, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain MRP plans for engineering builds, prototypes, and low-rate production; manage BOM releases, revisions, and ECOs with Engineering.
• Execute procurement against the MPS and align materials with cost, schedule, performance, and program milestones.
• Manage long-lead and at-risk components, identify alternate parts and suppliers, and prevent schedule risks.
• Track OTIF, supplier lead times, PPV, inventory accuracy, and material availability.
• Maintain ERP planning parameters, including lead times, safety stock, and order policies.
• Identify and qualify suppliers, lead RFQs, analyze costs, negotiate pricing and delivery terms, and manage supplier performance.

Requirements

• U.S. person status is required to access export-controlled information, as defined by 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3).
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8 years of experience in production planning, procurement, or planner/buyer roles.
• Experience supporting NPI or low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong ERP/MRP experience and advanced Excel skills.
• Knowledge of demand planning, MRP logic, inventory control, supplier negotiations, RFQs, and basic contract terms.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Creative, flexible, comfortable wearing multiple hats, building systems from the ground up, and working with ambiguity and change.

Nice to have

• Experience in photonics, electronics, aerospace, or precision manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of ISO9001 or AS9100 environments.
