(Senior) Engineer in Test Embedded Software, meoSphere

Location: Betzdorf, Luxembourg; at least 60% onsite from the office; national and international travel required.

What you will do

• Own and evolve the embedded software quality strategy, test approach, guidance, quality gates, acceptance criteria, and reusable templates.
• Design, implement, review, and maintain automated unit, component, integration, regression, system, robustness, fault-injection, and negative tests for Rust, C, and C++ software.
• Build and maintain test frameworks, fixtures, simulators, mocks, stubs, harnesses, and tooling for embedded Linux, bare-metal, and hardware-coupled environments.
• Integrate automated testing, static analysis, coverage, sanitizers, and machine-readable reporting into CI/CD and DevSecOps pipelines.
• Lead SIL, HIL, bench, and target-based testing, including environment readiness, reproducibility, diagnostics, and test asset maintenance.
• Collaborate with software, systems, hardware, FPGA, AIT, security, and mission teams to establish verification coverage, quality evidence, and release readiness.

Requirements

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Senior-level experience in software quality engineering, software development in test, or embedded software verification in a mission- or safety-critical domain such as satcom, avionics, automotive, industrial, or medical.
• Strong hands-on experience with automated testing for embedded or real-time software and proficiency in at least one of Rust, C, or C++, plus Python or another scripting language for test automation and tooling.
• Experience with test frameworks, mocks, simulators, harnesses, automated bench or target-control solutions, and embedded Linux, bare-metal systems, cross-compilation, toolchains, GDB, and JTAG.
• Experience integrating tests and quality controls into CI/CD, including static analysis, code coverage, sanitizers, and machine-readable test reporting.
• Experience with SIL, HIL, target-based testing and diagnosing complex software, hardware, timing, concurrency, and interface issues.
• Ability to define quality guidance, influence engineering teams without formal authority, and communicate risks and trade-offs to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
• Experience translating system and software requirements into risk-based test strategies, maintainable test cases, traceability, objective release evidence, defect workflows, and quality metrics.
• Must be eligible for a SECRET security clearance under applicable national regulations and EU/ESA/NATO equivalents.

Nice to have

• Experience testing satellite payloads, spacecraft avionics, space-grade electronics, or other highly reliable embedded platforms.
• Knowledge of fault management, health monitoring, redundancy management, recovery mechanisms, telemetry, and telecommand interfaces.
• Experience with FPGA-integrated systems, hardware/software co-design, embedded security testing, or relevant standards such as ECSS, DO-178C, MISRA, ISO 26262, and IEC 61508.
• Familiarity with Azure DevOps or similar test, requirements, defect, and quality management tools.
• Experience improving team-wide quality culture through coaching, communities of practice, retrospectives, and measurable improvement initiatives.
• Relevant certification in software testing, quality engineering, or functional safety.
