Senior Infrastructure Engineer (AWS)

Location: Remote-first in the United States and Argentina; the role is listed for the United States and requires valid work authorization depending on the country of employment.

Salary: $165,000–$225,000 annually in the United States, depending on compensation zone.

What you will do

• Own and evolve AWS cloud infrastructure for Convert products, including compute, serverless, networking, and cloud operations.
• Build and maintain Pulumi infrastructure-as-code foundations, shared components, and engineering patterns.
• Improve the scalability, reliability, performance, and cost efficiency of distributed, event-driven data systems, including Druid, MongoDB, Airflow, streaming, and batch pipelines.
• Design observability through dashboards, alerts, SLOs, capacity planning, and actionable on-call practices.
• Lead infrastructure projects from design through launch, write and review tested automation, and improve developer productivity through CI/CD and paved paths.
• Build AI-powered automation such as policy-as-code, drift detection, and LLM-assisted runbook generation.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
• Business-level English fluency for reading, writing, and speaking.
• 5+ years owning and operating cloud infrastructure in customer-facing production environments with little tolerance for downtime.
• Deep hands-on AWS experience and strong knowledge of cloud operations.
• Experience with infrastructure as code, using Pulumi or Terraform, with a preference for code-based changes rather than console work.
• Production experience operating high-throughput, data-intensive distributed systems such as Druid, MongoDB, or Airflow, including scalability, fault tolerance, consistency trade-offs, and performance tuning.
• Fluency in Python or TypeScript/Node.js for automation and tooling, with the ability to read and work in Java services.
• Experience designing SLOs, dashboards, and alerts, handling on-call incidents, conducting blameless postmortems, and addressing root causes.
• Interest in improving developer productivity through CI/CD, tooling, and infrastructure delivery paths.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Spark, Airflow, or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with Kafka or other event-streaming platforms.
• Experience building AI-assisted infrastructure tooling for cost optimization, anomaly detection, or policy-as-code with LLM assistance.
• Experience contributing to multi-region architecture, including data residency, regional failover, or latency-based routing.
