Power System Protection Engineer

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina, or Pullman, Washington, United States; applicants must be United States citizens. On-site commissioning travel is required approximately 25% of the time.

Salary: Project Engineer II — $107,600–$161,500 annually. Project Engineer I — $89,400–$134,100 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement power system protection and control schemes.
• Work with project managers, engineers, and technicians to assess requirements and implement protection strategies.
• Test and commission systems to validate protection scheme functionality and performance.
• Deliver assigned work within scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements.
• Develop technical proposals for customers and travel for on-site commissioning approximately 25% of the time.
• Apply SEL values, operating principles, and World Class Manufacturing principles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of experience; applications from candidates with senior-level experience may also be considered.
• Strong understanding of power system protection principles, relay protection and control schemes, and relay coordination techniques.
• Proven experience designing and implementing protection and control schemes in a utility or industrial setting.
• Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, and NERC/FERC regulations and other relevant industry standards.
• Strong writing, documentation, speaking, problem-solving, analysis, and troubleshooting skills.
• United States citizenship is required.
