Data Operations Engineer (Hybrid) - 30862

Location: Hybrid work in Fort Meade, Maryland, United States; work on the customer site is required on average 2 days per week, with schedule flexibility.

Salary: $137,510–$195,000 per year.

What you will do

• Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers and the DataOps team, translating mission-specific data needs into engineering tasks and technical roadmaps.
• Lead daily DataOps operations focused on accelerating data availability and reducing data discovery latency.
• Oversee deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and performance tuning of data flows, clusters, and distributed data infrastructure.
• Drive the transition from reactive maintenance to a proactive, automated, and adaptive operational model.
• Coordinate the reuse of scripts, flow strategies, and operational improvements across the ecosystem.
• Implement automated quality gates and schema validations, and troubleshoot dataflow issues across messaging, orchestration, and cloud environments.

Requirements

• Current and maintainable active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance, ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI, and U.S. Citizenship are required.
• At least 9 years of experience in technical operations, systems engineering, or data management with a Bachelor’s degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a related Master’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing high-volume data flows and storage using distributed messaging queues, data orchestration engines, and cloud-native storage.
• Strong familiarity with enterprise observability platforms and log analysis tools.
• Deep understanding of network data, metadata fill rates, and JSON and XML log formats.
• Fluency in managing extraction, translation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Experience using SQL for data validation with internal teams and customers.
• Ability to use scripting languages such as Python or Java to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Exceptional ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translate customer requirements into technical specifications.
• Current and active DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II compliance certifications.
• Ability to work at the customer site in Fort Meade, Maryland, on average 2 days per week.

Nice to have

• Current TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience in technical account management or customer-facing engineering.
• Experience with distributed data processing and cloud-native storage solutions.
• Experience supporting cyber or network security operations.
• Knowledge of automated Attribute Based Access Control (ABAC) or data masking in production pipelines.
