Data Engineer (Snowflake/Airflow)

Location: Remote, must live in the Continental US. Candidates must be US citizens or Permanent Residents. The company is based out of Washington, DC.

Salary: $95,000–$106,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, and deploy scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across development, test, and production environments.
• Develop Apache Airflow DAGs, schedules, dependencies, retries, alerts, monitoring, and failure-handling workflows.
• Build Snowflake schemas, tables, views, data-loading processes, SQL transformations, and performance optimizations.
• Integrate data from databases, APIs, and files while maintaining consistency, lineage, quality, security, and accessibility.
• Develop Python automation, operational documentation, validation checks, testing, and recovery procedures.
• Collaborate on requirements, code reviews, technical design, CI/CD, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement with engineers, developers, analysts, and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or an Associate's degree plus two years of experience.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in data engineering, data integration, ETL/ELT development, or a related technical field.
• At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake and Apache Airflow in data engineering or pipeline development.
• Strong SQL proficiency, including query development, data transformation, and performance optimization.
• Experience developing, scheduling, monitoring, and troubleshooting Airflow pipelines and maintaining Snowflake data structures, transformations, and workflows.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable scripting language; understanding of relational databases, data modeling, integration patterns, and data quality practices.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively.
• Must live in the Continental US and be either a US citizen or Permanent Resident. Successful completion of a background check, background investigation, and standard onboarding is required; a Public Trust designation or security clearance may be required depending on agency requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with government contracting, healthcare, CMS, or another regulated environment.
• Experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including cloud storage and data ingestion tools.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automated testing for data workflows.
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, metadata management, and role-based access controls.
• Experience with REST APIs, JSON, and structured or semi-structured data formats.
• Familiarity with Docker.
• Residence in a HUBZone-certified area is strongly encouraged.
