Site Reliability Engineer II (Cloud Networking)

Location: Remote, United States

Base salary for US-based candidates: $95,000–$171,000/year.

What you will do

• Plan and execute phased rollouts of VPC and Cloud Firewall dataplane binaries and feature flags.
• Operate and troubleshoot private networking, routing, overlays, stateful firewalling, IPSec Gateway, and multi-cloud connectivity on Linux hosts.
• Automate rollout steps, health checks, and recurring operational tasks using Python, Shell, and SaltStack.
• Build and maintain Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, alerts, runbooks, and SLO improvements.
• Participate in on-call incident triage, mitigation, post-mortems, Technical Readiness Reviews, and operational documentation.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, L2/L3 routing, NAT, DNS, and stateful firewalling.
• Hands-on Linux networking experience with namespaces, bridges, virtual interfaces, iptables/nftables, and conntrack.
• Packet-level troubleshooting experience with tcpdump, Wireshark/tshark, ip, ss, traceroute, and mtr.
• Experience writing automation in Python or Shell, using SaltStack or Ansible, and working with Jenkins CI/CD.
• Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
• Understanding of phased rollouts, canaries, feature flags, validation, and rollback.
• Ability to work with moderate supervision, communicate clearly during incidents, and prioritize operational work.
