Staff Site Reliability Engineer (Networking)

Location: Fully remote within the United States.

Salary: $172,000–$216,000 USD for most US locations; $198,000–$233,000 USD for high cost of living areas including San Francisco Bay, New York City, and Seattle, plus bonus eligibility and equity.

What you will do

• Own technical direction for networking across data center fabrics, GCP VPCs, Kubernetes, and public-facing edge infrastructure.
• Design and automate load balancing, ingress, routing, DNS, BGP peering, and TLS termination through GitOps pipelines.
• Lead cross-datacenter resiliency, failover architecture, and workload reliability for the on-premises scanning platform.
• Own DDoS mitigation, WAF strategy, and traffic engineering for internet-scanning and API infrastructure.
• Set networking and reliability standards, address architectural debt, and lead multi-quarter infrastructure initiatives across teams.
• Mentor SRE engineers and serve as a senior escalation point for incidents spanning application, Kubernetes, and physical network layers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in network engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, including production networking ownership and cross-team technical leadership.
• Deep knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, anycast, DNS, TLS, and load balancing at scale.
• Experience building network automation software, health checks, certificate lifecycle management, and traffic management tooling in Go or Python.
• Experience operating hybrid environments across physical data centers and public cloud; GCP is preferred, with Kubernetes networking including CNI, ingress, and service mesh.
• Fluency with infrastructure-as-code and GitOps workflows such as Terraform, Crossplane, or ArgoCD applied to network infrastructure.
• Ability to drive architectural decisions across teams without formal authority through written proposals and data.
• Strong communication skills for explaining routing incidents to leadership and BCDR tradeoffs to product management.
• Action-oriented problem solving and ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with traffic management and delivery at large consumer scale, including streaming, CDN, or global anycast environments.
• Experience automating TLS certificate rotation, failover testing, capacity forecasting, or similar operational toil.
• Familiarity with internet measurement, scanning infrastructure, or security operations, including peering and abuse reporting.
• Interest in using AI and LLM tools for infrastructure work such as incident analysis and configuration generation.
• External knowledge sharing through conference talks, open-source contributions, or technical writing.
