TL;DR
Senior Data Engineer, Data Analytics (Robotics): Building reliable data infrastructure, ETL pipelines, and queryable datasets from humanoid robot telemetry and logs with an accent on fleet operations, hardware reliability, and analytics. Focus on designing distributed data transformations, enforcing data quality and schema evolution, and enabling root-cause analysis across robotics, software, hardware, and ML workflows.

Location: Fully remote within the United States, with an option to work hybrid if within commuting distance of offices in Salem, Oregon; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Fremont, California. Applicants must have current authorization to work in the United States.

Anticipated base salary range: $175,000–$274,000 USD annually, depending on market location, knowledge, skills, and experience.

Company

hirify.global develops commercially deployed humanoid robots for warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and distribution centers, with data infrastructure supporting fleet operations, hardware reliability, analytics, and machine learning.

What you will do

  • Collaborate with robot software and hardware teams to define, collect, and curate data for analytics and debugging.
  • Develop and maintain ETL pipelines that transform robot logs and telemetry into structured datasets using Spark, Airflow or equivalent orchestration tools, and AWS data services.
  • Own gold-layer datasets for fleet dashboards, reliability models, and business metrics, including freshness SLAs, documentation, and monitoring.
  • Implement data quality checks, schema evolution, metadata management, and cataloging practices.
  • Design efficient data models with reliability, analytics, and ML consumers for workflow metrics, system health, and root-cause analysis.
  • Occasionally contribute to shared Python, Java, or C++ libraries and APIs supporting data capture and consumption.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role building and maintaining production data pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency with Apache Spark or an equivalent distributed data processing framework, plus complementary programming skills in Python, Java, and/or Scala.
  • Experience with Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, or another data orchestration system.
  • Proficiency with Avro, Parquet, and structured or numeric datasets.
  • Familiarity with table formats such as Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake, and with medallion architecture.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, schema evolution, and data quality practices.
  • Ability to model datasets logically and partition them physically for query performance in analytical query engines and playback or root-cause-analysis workflows.
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with software, hardware, and analytics teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with data versioning or immutable dataset design, such as Apache Iceberg or Delta Lake.
  • Experience processing, storing, and querying multimodal vision data, including RGB, depth, point clouds, or perception outputs.
  • Familiarity with C++ and willingness to contribute to lightweight logging or data serialization libraries.
  • Experience with data catalog systems and metadata management.

Culture & Benefits

  • Small, high-impact team building the data foundation for humanoid robotics.
  • Work at the intersection of physical systems and large-scale data infrastructure with roboticists, software engineers, and data scientists.
  • Full-time employees receive a 401(k) with a 6% company match, equity, company-paid medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance, and benefits from the first day.
  • Time-off options include flexible unlimited PTO for exempt employees or vacation and paid sick leave for non-exempt employees, plus 12 company holidays and a winter shutdown.
  • Additional benefits include paid parental leave, professional development and tuition reimbursement, an employee assistance program, eligible relocation assistance, and eligible annual discretionary bonuses.
  • Flexible work arrangements, with catered lunches and refreshments available at Salem and Pittsburgh offices.
