Principal AI Security Engineer

Location: Fully remote within the United States; listed location: PA, USA

Base compensation: $179,760–$341,520 annually. Different ranges apply in specified locations including California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Virginia, New York City, Washington, and Washington DC.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, and deploy controls for AI applications, agents, copilots, and shared AI platforms.
• Build reusable services, APIs, libraries, policy checks, automation, and enterprise platform integrations.
• Implement identity, authorization, secrets, data access, tool-use, egress, rate-limiting, logging, and human-approval controls.
• Conduct AI threat modeling and technical security reviews, then drive remediation through engineering solutions.
• Build adversarial tests and automated checks for prompt injection, unsafe tool execution, misuse, and control bypass.
• Integrate AI security telemetry, detections, alerts, and response workflows while mentoring and influencing enterprise engineering practices.

Requirements

• 10 or more years of experience in security engineering, application security, product security, cloud security, software engineering, platform engineering, or a related field.
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, secrets management, API security, logging, monitoring, and secure development controls.
• Experience implementing technical controls addressing the evolving AI risk landscape.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD.
• Ability to conduct threat modeling and convert findings into working engineering solutions.
• Development experience in Python, Java, C#, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript.

Nice to have

• Experience developing or securing generative AI applications, agents, copilots, or machine learning platforms.
• Experience with AI gateways, model routing, RAG, vector databases, orchestration, MCP, or model-serving platforms.
• Experience with AI red teaming, adversarial testing, prompt injection defenses, or automated control validation.
• Relevant security, cloud, application security, or AI engineering certifications.
