Engineer - Application Cybersecurity (Remote)

Location: Remote, United States; role associated with Chicago, Illinois, United States. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.

Base pay range: $89,965.00–$117,212.00 per year.

What you will do

• Validate that services, applications, and websites follow secure development standards from design through deployment.
• Perform manual and tool-assisted code analysis, including mobile application security testing and vulnerability analysis.
• Support product teams with vulnerability remediation guidance and application security assessments.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD templates and other automation to integrate security into continuous integration pipelines.
• Define and communicate security best practices and standards to product development teams.
• Support security architecture reviews and threat modeling for products.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a STEM field is preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or ECDLP.
• Working knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and CWE 25, application testing including SAST, DAST, MAST, RAST, or IAST, programming languages and scripting.
• Experience designing, developing, or integrating AI-powered security agents and automated workflows for vulnerability triage, exploitability analysis, secure code review, remediation, or continuous security assurance across the SDLC.
• Basic understanding of threat modeling, DevSecOps and CI/CD, SDLC processes, web and application security including API security, cloud technologies and security, vulnerability management, and authentication and authorization flows.
• Ability to work independently and self-motivate, with excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, interpersonal, collaboration, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship.
• Successful completion of an interview is required, and reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position.

Nice to have

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Certified Application Security Engineer certification.
• Experience with threat modeling, AI-powered security agents, secure coding, identity management and authentication, software development, cryptography, system administration and network security, or cloud computing.
• Experience with AWS technologies.
• Working knowledge of C#, Java, Python, Swift, JavaScript, generative AI/LLMs, agent orchestration frameworks, and API integrations for scalable security automation; familiarity with MCP, AI agent frameworks, and AI-assisted code analysis and remediation.
• Basic understanding of compliance frameworks such as NIST 800-53, technical documentation and SOP creation, cryptography, networks, and network security including WAF and micro-segmentation.
