Electrical Controls Engineer (PLC)

Location: Escondido, California, United States; the role operates in a professional office environment and requires travel to customer sites worldwide.

Annual salary: $72,028–$129,687.

What you will do

• Develop controls engineering quotes and proposals based on customer project needs.
• Create functional specifications and electrical engineering drawings, including schematics, control panel and junction box layouts, component details, and network communication drawings.
• Select control components and materials and create bills of materials for procurement.
• Program PLC, HMI, and historian systems using FactoryTalk View Studio, PanelView, FactoryTalk View SE, and FactoryTalk Historian.
• Test and troubleshoot panels and control systems.
• Work with customers on controls integration and travel to customer sites for field startup and integration.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering.
• At least 3–5 years of electrical engineering experience covering the listed responsibilities.
• Required experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
• Required AutoCAD experience, including electrical schematics and control panel layouts.
• Experience with control component selection and control panel design, including panel sizing, fuse and breaker selection, and PLC component sizing and selection.
• Experience starting up control panels and control systems and troubleshooting issues for customers.
• VFD drive and electrical code experience.
• Ability to travel to customer sites worldwide.
• The role involves regular communication, close vision, focus adjustment, and occasional lifting, bending, or standing on a stool.

• Fueling systems experience, including offloading, dispensing, and fueling stations.
