Sr. AI Engineer – IT

Location: Hybrid role for candidates based in or near Austin, Texas, United States

Salary: $136,500–$189,420 USD base salary per year

What you will do

• Implement and support AI Fabric services for agent execution, context assembly, model routing, tool access, workflow orchestration, and enterprise integrations.
• Build skills-store capabilities, including personal, team, department, and organization-wide skills, with versioning, testing, auditability, selection, review, promotion, and permission checks.
• Build agent harnesses and develop agents and services integrating APIs, data platforms, tools, external agents, and workflow systems.
• Apply identity, authentication, authorization, secrets-management, context-assembly, and model-routing patterns.
• Add evaluations, tests, logging, alerts, tracing, runbooks, usage and cost measurements, and failure handling.
• Contribute to bounded background-agent pilots and recommend improvements to established platform interfaces and patterns.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant hands-on engineering experience, or an equivalent record delivering substantial backend, platform, infrastructure, AI, or integration systems.
• Strong Python skills with practical experience in APIs, cloud services, containers or serverless runtimes, automated testing, and deployment pipelines; working ability in JavaScript/TypeScript or SQL is valuable.
• Experience building or operating production services, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident follow-up, and maintainability improvements.
• Hands-on experience with LLM applications or agents involving tools, retrieval, structured outputs, orchestration, or evaluation.
• Experience implementing and building infrastructure in AWS AgentCore.
• Experience implementing secure integrations using identity, authentication, permissions, secrets management, and audit logging.
• Sound judgment regarding timeouts, retries, idempotency, state, rate limits, and recovery.
• Ability to create implementation plans, explain options and evidence, identify decisions requiring architecture, security, policy, or rollout review, and communicate clearly with engineering, security, data, and business partners.
• Experience writing meaningful tests and using production evidence to improve variable AI behavior.
• Must be authorized to work full-time and permanently in the United States without requiring new or initial employer-sponsored work authorization.
