Senior AI Engineer (Automation)

Location: Remote within the U.S., Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM with a one-hour break; flexibility is available based on coverage.

Salary: $120,000–$180,000 annually, plus eligibility for annual performance incentives.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems using LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain to automate complex, multi-step logistics workflows.
• Develop prompt engineering strategies, tool-use architectures, RAG pipelines, and multi-agent systems for routing, validation, enrichment, communication, and exception handling.
• Build monitoring, observability, fallback, guardrail, output-validation, and confidence-scoring mechanisms for reliable production AI systems.
• Identify and prioritize high-ROI automation opportunities across carrier onboarding, load tendering, document extraction, invoice reconciliation, exception triage, and customer status updates.
• Build document-processing pipelines for bills of lading, rate confirmations, carrier invoices, proof of delivery, and compliance documents, including extraction, classification, and validation.
• Partner with Operations, Brokerage, and Customer Success to understand workflows, validate automation logic, and measure real-world impact.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications, including RAG pipelines, agentic systems, or structured output extraction.
• Deep understanding of prompt engineering, context management, tool use, and failure modes of LLM-based systems.
• At least 4 years of experience integrating AI/ML systems with real-world APIs, databases, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong problem-solving ability, including decomposing complex operational workflows into systems with clear inputs, outputs, and failure paths.
• Proficiency deploying scalable machine learning algorithms to production using Azure or AWS.
• MS or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent work experience.

Nice to have

• Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Three years of experience in supply chain, logistics, transportation, or a similar field.
