Sr. Software Engineer (AI and Automation)

Location: Hybrid in Hartford, Connecticut, or Atlanta, Georgia, United States

Annual base salary: $142,900–$235,800, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and operation of production AI applications centered on LLM agents, retrieval pipelines, and reliability.
• Design agent orchestration with AWS Bedrock AgentCore or frameworks such as LangGraph, including tool calling, routing, and prompt strategies for Claude models.
• Own RAG pipelines from document ingestion and embedding through vector-store-backed Python retrieval APIs and pre-release quality evaluations.
• Architect AWS services and containerized retrieval and evaluation workloads on EKS using Helm, ArgoCD, OpenTelemetry, and observability platforms.
• Build reliable infrastructure and deployments with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and TEP pipelines, alongside Python, TypeScript/Node, React, and Vite application layers.
• Resolve critical production issues, provide technical mentorship, and improve design practices, testing, evaluations, operational readiness, and developer productivity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related STEM field, or equivalent education and/or work experience.
• Six additional years of software engineering experience.
• Production experience shipping LLM or agent systems, beyond demos or prototypes.
• Hands-on experience with tool calling, prompt and routing design, RAG quality tuning, and evaluations of LLM and retrieval performance.
• Strong AWS serverless and EKS experience, including designing and debugging Lambda, API Gateway, and Kubernetes-based production systems.
• Practical experience maintaining Terraform, Helm charts, and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions and TEP.
• Experience with observability, including OpenTelemetry or Dynatrace tracing, structured logging with correlation IDs, cost tracking, and incident handling.
• Ability to work across Python, TypeScript/Node, React, and Vite, and familiarity with ingestion, embedding, retrieval, and vector-store-backed APIs.
• Ability to define software design strategy, use automated tests and feedback loops, monitor system health, solve complex problems with data and proofs of concept, communicate clearly with business stakeholders, and influence and mentor others.

Nice to have

• Experience with Strands, LangGraph, or Bedrock AgentCore.
