Hyperspectral Imagery Scientist (Remote Sensing)

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia, United States; field and laboratory work may take place at CONUS and OCONUS locations.

Salary: $140,000–$180,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Conduct imagery science supporting ground forces intelligence requirements and Army information needs.
• Process and exploit full-spectrum hyperspectral data.
• Develop and modernize algorithms, tools, and methodologies for hyperspectral imagery exploitation.
• Conduct research, development, test, and evaluation to identify remote sensing applications.
• Characterize data from ground-, air-, and space-based spectral and remote sensing sensors.
• Operate field and laboratory instrumentation, including radiometers, weather monitoring, and calibration equipment; author technical papers and present findings at symposiums, meetings, and working groups.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance required.
• Graduate degree in a science or academic program heavily incorporating remote sensing, such as geosciences, atmospheric science, chemistry, physics, or mathematics.
• Applied imagery science experience: 8+ years for the Mid level or 12+ years for the Senior level.
• Expertise using ENVI, ArcGIS, and QGIS.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively while communicating directly with customers.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI clearance.
• PhD in a related field.
• Experience using AI/ML tools to train, tune, test, and deploy models.
