Distinguished Software Engineer, AI

Location: Remote across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.

Compensation: $350,000–$400,000 USD for candidates based in the United States; $400,000–$500,000 CAD in Canada; $175,000–$250,000 USD in Argentina and Brazil. Compensation is base salary and may include equity and performance-based incentives.

What you will do

• Run agentic coding workflows on production codebases, identify failure points, and build tooling, guardrails, evaluations, and review practices for reliable AI-assisted development.
• Design systems that remain reliable when most code is produced by agents, including decisions about human-in-the-loop controls.
• Design, build, and ship customer-facing AI-powered product features using TypeScript, Go, and AWS.
• Architect agentic workflows, LLM pipelines, and intelligent automation that provide faster, more actionable security insights.
• Integrate foundation models into product surfaces while managing latency, cost, output quality, evaluation, security, and maintainability.
• Lead architecture and code reviews, own projects through monitoring and post-launch improvement, collaborate with engineers across the organization, document learnings, and participate in hiring.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and shipping production software, with a track record at strong engineering companies such as big tech or high-growth startups.
• Evidence of setting technical direction and driving outcomes on engineering teams.
• Deep computer science and system design fundamentals, including the ability to design distributed systems and explain their failure modes.
• Heavy hands-on use of AI coding tools on real codebases, with informed opinions about their strengths and limitations.
• Experience building with LLMs, including agents, tool use, evaluations, prompt design, and context design.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and strong backend engineering fundamentals.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems in cloud environments; AWS is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and production deployment practices.
• Clear, direct communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, comfort with ambiguity, and willingness to help define an evolving team and role.

Nice to have

• Experience with Go, Terraform, ClickHouse, PostgreSQL, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or comparable AI-native development and infrastructure tools.
