Head of EEA Legal, Deputy General Counsel (Crypto)

Location: Remote roles across EMEA; Sliema, Malta. At least 50% of working time must be spent at the Malta-based office.

What you will do

• Lead the EEA legal function and serve as the primary legal contact for the OKX EEA entity.
• Provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance for European operations and support licensing and expansion into the U.K. market.
• Advise on product development, regulatory matters, intellectual property, corporate governance, token listings, contracts, compliance, institutional sales, partnerships, and marketing.
• Analyze legal risks of new and existing digital assets and manage the legal component of the new asset review process.
• Lead and coordinate EEA lawyers, collaborate with product and business development teams, and advise business leaders on legal risk.
• Represent OKX at relevant industry associations, consultation efforts, Board meetings, and committee meetings.

Requirements

• Law degree from a top-tier law school and qualification to practice law in the EEA.
• 14+ years of legal experience at a top-tier law firm and/or in-house legal team, preferably in cryptocurrency, digital assets, or financial services.
• Experience advising on digital-asset and blockchain legal issues, with a strong understanding of the relevant legal and regulatory landscape.
• Experience working with EU regulators and maintaining EU financial-services and/or crypto-exchange licenses.
• Strong communication, leadership, judgment, writing, analytical, and trust-building skills.
• Ability to work independently with limited reliance on external counsel, while contributing effectively within a collaborative legal team.
• Ability to navigate a rapidly changing legal environment, handle ambiguity, and work on cross-jurisdictional matters within a global legal team.
• Experience managing a team and working in a fast-paced, growth-stage, multicultural environment.
