Financial Controller (Spain and Mexico)

Location: Spain; must be based in the San Sebastian area and attend the office 3 days per week. Remaining days can be worked remotely.

What you will do

• Manage the complete accounts receivable cycle, including revenue recognition, invoicing, collections, and aging analysis.
• Control inventory invoicing and align physical shipments, supply chain movements, and NetSuite financial records.
• Manage Spanish and Mexican tax compliance with external advisors, including monthly VAT preparation and annual tax returns.
• Lead the identification, application, tracking, reporting, and audit justification of local and national R&D grants and subsidies.
• Lead month-end close, review bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, AP entries, expense and revenue controls, and analytical reviews.
• Oversee AP payments, supplier relationships, and cash-flow optimization while driving process improvements through automation and AI tools.

Requirements

• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; experience in an accounting or audit firm is a strong advantage.
• At least 3 years of experience in a finance controlling or accounting role.
• Fluency in written and verbal English and Spanish is required.
• Experience managing inventory processes from a finance perspective.
• Experience with Spanish tax regulations and processes.
• Experience tracking, financially reporting, and providing audit justification for local and national R&D grants and subsidies.
• Knowledge of SII (Suministro Inmediato de Información) and Guipuzkoa TBAI systems.
• Ability to improve processes and use automation and AI tools to optimize financial workflows.
• Service-oriented approach with strong team communication and follow-through.

Nice to have

• Experience with NetSuite.
• Knowledge of Euskara.
