Staff Level Platform Engineer (Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform)

Location: Hybrid in Utrecht or Amsterdam, with 1–2 days per week onsite. Candidates must be based in the Netherlands and speak Dutch and English.

Salary: €110+ per hour.

What you will do

• Join one of two platform teams supporting the organisation’s expanding Dutch capabilities.
• Own compute and networking across Azure and contribute to a major migration from a single Azure subscription to separate subscriptions over 12+ months.
• Help launch a self-service platform team focused on Backstage and reducing Jira/GitHub ticket-based operations.
• Help shape the self-service tooling direction while Cortex is being trialled.
• Build and maintain high-traffic, high-performance platforms with broad organisational impact.
• Collaborate across teams and turn product and business requirements into technical solutions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Platform Engineering; experience limited to systems administration or DevOps engineering is not sufficient.
• Must be based in the Netherlands and speak Dutch and English.
• Product engineering mindset and approach rather than a ticket-handler or operations-only profile.
• For the fundamentals team: strong Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform skills.
• For the self-service team: Kubernetes and Terraform experience; a strong AWS and self-service background may also be considered.
• Experience leading teams.
• Experience building and maintaining high-traffic, high-performance platforms with wide organisational impact.
• Ability to translate product and business requirements into technical solutions.
• Strong collaboration skills across teams and curiosity about the wider organisation’s direction.

Nice to have

• FortiGate experience for the fundamentals team.
• Backstage experience for the self-service team.
