Developer Relations Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; onsite at the Mission office

Base salary: $175,000–$250,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Build reproducible demos and cookbooks for training decision models, evaluating routers, and deploying trained checkpoints, including code, sample data, expected results, and explanations.
• Partner with researchers to publish technical articles, walkthrough videos, and interactive demos explaining methods, results, tradeoffs, and limitations.
• Define DevRel strategy and standards, distribute technical work through X, GitHub, developer communities, and collaborations, and use audience response to improve content.
• Run workshops, livestreams, office hours, and relevant conference sessions; build tutorials covering evaluation, training, and deployment.
• Help organizations set up AC2, run initial evaluation and training jobs, interpret results, and turn recurring questions into reusable resources.
• Improve quickstarts and troubleshooting guides and bring reproducible developer problems to engineering for prioritization.

Requirements

• Strong engineering background with the ability to independently build, test, and debug useful demos and example applications.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning and evaluating language models, including explaining training setups, evaluation design, and conclusions from results.
• Track record of clear technical writing through articles, tutorials, documentation, or similar work.
• Experience distributing technical work to developers and interest in experimenting with ways to reach and teach them.
• Ability to listen closely, respond to technical feedback, acknowledge uncertainty, and help developers solve problems.
• Judgment and initiative to define priorities, take projects from idea to publication, and build a scalable function.

Nice to have

• Established audience among AI developers, particularly on X/Twitter.
• Previous founder experience or experience at an early-stage startup.
