Electrical Engineer (SDR Hardware)

Location: San Francisco, United States; U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or refugee/asylee status required

Base salary: $115,000–$175,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Design, qualify, and test custom software-defined radios for satellite payload and TTC systems.
• Design and test ultra-high-speed digital data systems using FPGAs and data converters.
• Design and lay out high-density PCBs for radio hardware.
• Test and validate the complete radio signal chain.
• Integrate radio systems into spacecraft while collaborating with RTL, communications, RF, and broader engineering teams.
• Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates.

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or an equivalent technical field.
• Passion for hands-on hardware development in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to personally design, build, and test hardware from scratch.
• Experience with Altium or similar EDA tools and high-density PCB design.
• Strong analog and mixed-signal circuit design skills.
• Experience designing high-speed clock trees and working with full RF signal chains.

Nice to have

• Experience with wideband programmable data converters.
• Familiarity with radio nonidealities, including HD, IMD, IQ imbalance, gain ripple, and group-delay distortion.
• Familiarity with high-speed SERDES protocols, especially JESD204B.
• Experience with RF test and measurement equipment and digital communications theory and measurement.
• Python experience for measurement automation and data analysis.
