What you will do

• Evaluate, screen, and process Merchant Mariner Credential applications in accordance with NMC Mission Management System procedures.
• Verify fees, general application requirements, professional endorsements, sea service, tonnage, routes, training, course completion, and competence assessments.
• Process unique applications, including non-resident alien and academy applications, and determine when additional information or medical review is needed.
• Recommend Approve to Print, Approve to Test, or Awaiting Information decisions and respond to mariner inquiries within two business days.
• Record transactions in the Merchant Mariner Licensing and Documentation system and other databases, maintain file control, and produce requested files within one hour.
• Maintain 80–87 work units per pay period with an error rate below 9%, participate in training, and support Government quality assurance reviews.

Requirements

• Proficiency as a Level III Professional Qualification Evaluator.
• Completion of the Government-provided Level I, Level II, and Level III PQE training courses.
• Documented history of evaluating work units with an error rate below 9%.
• Verifiable Level III evaluator work history in the maritime industry, including positions, locations, duties, and prior employers.
• Non-U.S. citizens require a Government waiver to access DHS IT systems.
