Multi-scale Physics Battery Modeling Intern (AI)

Location: Los Altos, California, United States; hybrid, in-office role

Salary: $45–$65/hour for California-based roles.

What you will do

• Research multiscale physics phenomena for battery modeling.
• Analyze experimental battery design and testing data.
• Identify materials knowledge needed to translate existing models to new materials.
• Develop reasoning models incorporating multiscale physics and collaborate on automated reasoning methods.
• Present findings to the team and wider research group.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a doctoral STEM program in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience with multiscale physics modeling, such as COMSOL, GT-AutoLion, or custom-built models.
• Experience with battery electrochemical testing, including Li-ion or Na-ion batteries.
• Experience with standard materials characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy.
• Published manuscripts and conference presentations related to experimental or computational battery materials.

Nice to have

• Experience coding in Python.
