Innovation Software Engineer 1 (AI)

Location: Nashville, Tennessee, United States; onsite. Employees not based in the Nashville area must travel to the Nashville office at least twice per year for company gatherings, with additional travel potentially required.

Salary: $80,000–$110,000 USD per year.

What you will do

• Develop Marketplace features, APIs, internal tools, reusable components, and integrations with experienced engineers.
• Turn early product concepts into prototypes and MVPs, ship them, gather customer feedback, and improve them.
• Build AI-powered workflows for document extraction, data validation, agent-driven processes, and automation.
• Learn and apply backend engineering practices involving services, APIs, asynchronous workflows, data models, testing, and code review.
• Participate in customer discovery, translate customer problems into product improvements, and reduce manual work.
• Gradually take ownership of larger engineering tasks while improving existing products, usability, reliability, and efficiency.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience in software engineering, product engineering, or a related technical role; recent graduates and career changers with strong hands-on projects are encouraged to apply.
• Experience writing code in TypeScript, JavaScript, or Python through professional work, internships, coursework, or personal projects.
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, and fundamental software engineering concepts.
• Experience using AI coding tools or experimenting with LLMs to build something, plus curiosity about incorporating AI into real products.
• At least one completed project to discuss, including the problem, approach, and lessons learned.
• Interest in building software, solving problems, and understanding customer impact.
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies, ask for help, and incorporate feedback.
• Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, and other teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, Node, SQL, AWS, or other cloud technologies.
• Exposure to LLM APIs, agent frameworks, RAG, document processing, or workflow automation.
• Side projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, or products used by others.
• Internship or early-career experience in a startup, SaaS company, fintech, or another fast-moving technical environment.
• Interest in financial services, construction, real estate, payments, lending, or other complex B2B industries.
