Prompt Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote - US; Eastern or Central time zones preferred.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 per year, plus equity and company-paid benefits.

What you will do

• Design specialized subagent architectures for live customer conversations, including technical Q&A, product and pricing expertise, discovery, objection handling, demos, account research, compliance, and action execution.
• Build routing and delegation systems that select direct answers, subagents, parallel specialists, clarifying questions, tools, human escalation, or safe refusal.
• Define subagent contracts covering inputs, context boundaries, structured outputs, confidence, evidence, latency budgets, cancellation, and failure handling.
• Develop and optimize prompts, context-management strategies, RAG knowledge bases, and fine-tuning workflows for Superhumans.
• Create prototypes and AI-assisted coding experiments for prompting and data workflows, including multimodal media and text-embedding use cases.
• Document prompting practices, master the dialogue platform, train others, and lead initiatives as expertise develops.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in AI agents, LLMs, conversation design, or related fields.
• Strong command of language, including the ability to identify scripted, off-tone, or incorrect responses.
• Experience diagnosing problems from conversation transcripts and explaining how a fix was validated.
• Strong hands-on mastery of LLM prompting, especially with OpenAI and Anthropic models, APIs, prompt parameters, and prompt components beyond basic chatbot use.
• Comfort reading system prompts, working in a console, calling APIs, and rapidly prototyping and iterating.
• Ability to write light code, such as Python, for prototypes.
