Platform Engineer II (AWS)

Location: Hybrid in Farmington Hills, Michigan, United States; three days per week in the office and two days from home.

What you will do

• Design and implement scalable, reliable platform services, tools, libraries, and frameworks for product engineering teams.
• Maintain infrastructure code and self-service capabilities, including CI/CD pipelines, automated provisioning, monitoring, and deployment workflows.
• Implement infrastructure as code across development, staging, and production using Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
• Manage containerized environments with ECS, EKS, Docker, and Kubernetes, supporting deployment, monitoring, scaling, and operations.
• Develop and maintain cloud-based data platform infrastructure using Databricks and AWS database services, including RDS.
• Collaborate with software engineering, QA, and DevOps teams while improving platform security, compliance, reliability, observability, automation, and performance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, or SRE focused on developer platforms, plus 3 years working with DevOps principles, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
• At least 3 years of experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or OCI; an AWS Solutions Architect certification or equivalent experience is required.
• At least 3 years of experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
• At least 3 years of experience with ECS, EKS, Docker, and Kubernetes; certification is preferred.
• Experience deploying and managing large-scale cloud data platforms or infrastructure, including Databricks, Aurora, or RDS; Databricks Platform Administrator certification or equivalent experience is required.
• Experience designing and building self-service infrastructure, preferably in a microservices architecture, and 5 years of progressive Windows and Linux server administration experience.
• Experience leveraging artificial intelligence to implement solutions that optimize processes, improve decision-making, or create business outcomes.
• Expertise with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog and PagerDuty; scripting skills in Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, identity management, security best practices, compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001, and agile methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environment.
