Manager of Research Engineering, TR Labs (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in Eagan, Minnesota, United States

Base compensation: $158,900–$295,100 USD annually; may also include an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Lead the delivery of business-critical features for customer-facing legal applications, from concept through production.
• Drive the team’s technical roadmap and long-term technology strategy in partnership with product, science, and technical leadership.
• Bridge applied science and production engineering across cross-functional research and engineering projects.
• Promote advanced engineering practices, efficient collaboration, and effective management of technical debt.
• Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop engineers while building a pipeline of future leaders.
• Align stakeholders around strategy, vision, roadmap, goals, and team OKRs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of software development experience, including demonstrated success managing software development teams in an agile environment.
• At least 1 year in a people leadership and product development leadership role.
• Experience leading technical development in cross-functional settings involving ML applications and close collaboration with Applied Scientists, R&D groups, or similar teams.
• A portfolio demonstrating significant contributions to technology innovation.
• Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills.
• Experience contributing to and overseeing large-scale rollouts and infrastructure initiatives.
• Expertise in several of the following: robust Python development, MLOps, containerization, and cloud infrastructure using AWS and Azure.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant specialization.
• Experience in strategic planning, organizational development, and team scaling.
• Experience with advanced search and recommendation technology, real-time ML pipeline orchestration, microservices architecture, or model monitoring and governance.
• Software development experience with React, TypeScript, or Tailwind.
