Lead Data & AI Architect

Location: Schlieren, with Bern listed as another location; possibility to work from home with flexible working hours.

What you will do

• Design and implement sophisticated architectures for data and AI projects with the delivery team.
• Develop data platforms, data products, data mesh solutions, secure data structures, and AI-ready pipelines.
• Design scalable cloud and on-premises solutions across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Lead machine learning and generative AI solutions from prototype to production, including evaluation, observability, traceability, and reproducibility.
• Explain architectural decisions to stakeholders, contribute to pre-sales and service development, and shape Zühlke’s data and AI offerings.
• Share knowledge internally and externally, educate clients, and support the development of junior colleagues.

Requirements

• Solid expertise in AI and data solutions, including their possibilities and limitations.
• Experience with sustainable software architecture for data and AI platforms and responsibility for technical mandates.
• Strong communication skills in German and English.
• Ability to make architectural decisions considering availability, flexibility, security, economic factors, and code-level impact.
• Technical degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a comparable field.
• Proficiency in Python, Spark, Iceberg, Delta Lake, dbt, and Kafka-based streaming.
• Experience with data and AI platform services including Databricks, Microsoft Fabric and Foundry, Amazon SageMaker, or Snowflake.
• Familiarity with GenAI tooling such as vector stores and agent frameworks.
• Strong self-motivation, confident communication, project ownership, and a DevOps, DataOps, and MLOps mindset.
