Senior Applied Scientist (AI)

What you will do

• Design, invent, implement, and deploy scalable, efficient, and automated solutions for complex and ambiguous business problems.
• Build and productionize models and impactful product features with scientists and software engineers at hirify.global and Amazon.
• Lead end-to-end solutions for content understanding, recommendations, and GenAI-based product features, including system-level requirements.
• Apply recent advances in ML, AI, GenAI, NLP, reinforcement learning, and distributed computation.
• Review peer models, manage business risk, improve customer experience, and make data-driven technical trade-offs.
• Drive the scientific agenda, author peer-reviewed publications, mentor scientists, and build consensus across teams.

Requirements

• Experience with data and AI technologies, including AI/ML, GenAI, analytics, databases, and/or storage.
• Experience developing and deploying LLMs in production on GPUs, Neuron, TPU, or other AI acceleration hardware, or experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics, or natural language processing.
• PhD plus 5+ years of research experience, or a Master’s degree plus 10+ years of research experience in machine learning, computer science, computer engineering, data science, applied mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of experience in deep learning, natural language processing or understanding, GenAI, and/or reinforcement learning.
• Experience with Python, SQL, and other scripting languages.
• Experience delivering science solutions into production systems.
• Experience building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business applications.
• Authorship of publications in top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals cited by other scientists.
• Experience building recommendation systems and/or large-scale content understanding systems, conducting online experimentation or A/B testing, orchestrating machine learning pipelines with AWS SageMaker, Batch, Lambda, Step Functions, or similar cloud platforms, and programming in at least one compiled language such as Java, C++, or C#.
• Experience with Agile software development, mentoring scientists, leading science or design reviews across teams, and domain knowledge of comparable digital or retail products.
