Headphones Embedded Software Engineer (FTC)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; hybrid work with most office-based roles onsite three days a week

What you will do

• Define software strategy and technical vision for headphone products across embedded firmware and interfaces supporting mobile applications and cloud services.
• Translate product ambitions into practical software deliverables and contribute to product and technology development.
• Collaborate with embedded firmware, mobile application, cloud, quality assurance, product, technology, project, and leadership teams.
• Support development and approval processes while monitoring external engineering resources, workloads, commitments, and delivery.
• Champion maintainability, reuse, automated verification, engineering quality, and long-term product support.
• Communicate technical trade-offs and build consensus across stakeholders.

Requirements

• Highly experienced in developing and testing embedded software in C and Python.
• Highly experienced in delivering clear, concise, well-documented, commercially compliant code.
• Understanding of embedded systems and device drivers.
• Baseline familiarity with using AI to support efficiency, problem-solving, and quality.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related science discipline.
• Hands-on familiarity with Jira and Confluence in product-development environments.
• Knowledge of build-system best practices, GitHub repository management and workflows, and automated testing.
• Knowledge of or interest in the audio market.
• Knowledge of Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy.
