2027 Software Dev Engineer Intern (Embedded Systems)

Location: London or Cambridge, United Kingdom; full-time in-office work Monday-Friday, typically up to 40 hours per week between 8am and 5pm.

What you will do

• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineers to design, build, operate, and improve products and services.
• Break down complex and ambiguous problems into solvable components and contribute to scalable, reliable services.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation.
• Write clean, maintainable code using best practices and design patterns.
• Use AI and GenAI tools to improve development productivity while validating and integrating generated code.
• Work with CI/CD and operational responsibilities, including monitoring, troubleshooting, production issue resolution, and on-call duties.

Requirements

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field at the time of application.
• At least one quarter, semester, or trimester remaining in studies after the internship concludes.
• Knowledge of object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
• Experience with at least one general-purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C++, C#, Go, Rust, or TypeScript.
• Ability to work full-time without conflicts such as classes or other employment during hirify.global working hours.

Nice to have

• Technical internship experience.
• Experience with distributed and multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, SQL and NoSQL databases, AI development tools, open-source projects, and/or version control systems.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in academic or professional settings.
• Ability to articulate technical challenges and solutions effectively.
• Ability to handle ambiguous or undefined problems and think abstractly.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
