Sr. Counsel, Employment

Location: U.S.-based role; primary locations are Bellevue, Seattle, or Washington, D.C. Candidates based in San Francisco, Mountain View, New York City, Boston, Chicago, or Denver will also be considered.

Salary: $197,800–$272,050 USD annually, plus potential annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise on compensation programs, bonus and incentive plans, clawbacks, equal-pay requirements, pay equity, benefits, recruiting, and employment agreements.
• Lead pay equity reviews and develop remediation and communication plans with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Advise on global mobility, immigration, employee transfers, international assignments, work authorization, and cross-border workforce matters.
• Support employment and benefits diligence, deal terms, retention arrangements, and workforce integration for mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments.
• Advise on employee privacy, workforce data, HR technology, and HR AI tools, including vendor diligence, bias risks, governance, and responsible implementation.
• Lead global employment projects, monitor legal developments, improve scalable legal workflows, and respond to U.S. demand letters, administrative charges, and disputes.

Requirements

• JD from a top-tier law school and membership in a state bar in good standing.
• 10+ years of relevant employment-law experience advising sophisticated organizations; in-house experience, including firm secondee experience, is strongly preferred.
• Experience with compensation, benefits, pay equity, executive compensation, recruiting, global mobility, and immigration.
• Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments, including employment and benefits diligence, employee-related deal terms, and workforce integration.
• Experience leading multi-jurisdictional or global projects and coordinating stakeholders across regions, functions, and seniority levels.
• Must be based in the U.S.
• Exceptional drafting, project-management, judgment, relationship-building, and executive-stakeholder skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, high-growth technology company with incomplete information.
• Genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging technology, with a client-service orientation, bias for action, and high integrity.

Nice to have

• Experience advising on employee privacy, workforce data, HR technology, and AI tools.
• In-house employment-law experience, including firm secondee experience.
