Design Engineer 2 (Automotive)

What you will do

• Design and develop components and assemblies for 3–5 concurrent OEM automotive projects, including complex technology developments and supplier interactions.
• Create and maintain 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and ECN documentation.
• Run packaging studies, optimize designs for the customer’s available envelope, and support design-for-manufacture improvements.
• Create and maintain component and assembly DFMEAs, performing FEA and hand calculations required by the analysis.
• Support and oversee initial plant builds, conduct design and field testing, and evaluate production readiness and component accuracy.
• Work with Commercial teams on costing and RFQ responses while tracking tasks against project targets.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a master’s degree is also accepted.
• 2–5+ years of applicable experience.
• Engineering design knowledge and experience with Creo, 3D modeling, or similar CAD design software.
• Experience with DFMEA, including E1NS or a similar methodology, GD&T, and engineering calculations.
• Time management and prioritization abilities.
• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Ability to travel.
• Ability to sit for long periods, validate and enter data on a computer, and disassemble or build shocks and sub-assemblies.
