Senior AI Engineer (LLM)

What you will do

• Own LLM-powered systems and agentic workflows from ambiguous customer problems through production operation.
• Define evaluation gates, guardrails, production signals, and historical-claim simulations for model changes.
• Design NLP pipelines combining LLMs, semantic search, and classical NLP to structure unstructured claims data.
• Build durable, event-driven, multi-tenant systems with deterministic workflows around non-deterministic model steps, including failure handling, replay, and cost controls.
• Own model-call and agent-step tracing, auditability, privacy, security, tenant isolation, access control, redaction, and retention.
• Author cross-team design documents, review designs and code, mentor engineers, and participate in shared on-call.

Requirements

• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including an LLM-powered system architected, shipped to external customers, and carried through at least one model or prompt migration.
• Team-level expertise in Python and TypeScript, including async design, strict typing, testing strategy, and profiling and fixing performance issues.
• Experience setting evaluation and guardrail strategies, defining human-approval points, and feeding production corrections back into evaluations.
• Daily production use of Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or a similar agentic coding tool, including constraining context, verifying output, and explaining reverted changes.
• Experience designing pipelines combining LLMs, semantic search, and classical NLP, including defensible retrieval and cases where classical techniques improved cost, latency, or reliability.
• Experience designing durable event-driven systems with deterministic orchestration, compensating actions, idempotency, backpressure, and event-sourced replay.
• Experience with relational, document, and graph databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Neo4j, including partitioning, consistency, and tenant-isolation decisions.
• Experience operating systems on Azure or AWS with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and a durable workflow engine such as Temporal or Durable Task Scheduler.
• Experience authoring cross-team technical design documents and communicating trade-offs to technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice to have

• React and TypeScript experience for end-to-end full-stack features, especially chat, streaming, and citation-heavy AI experiences.
• Experience with agent frameworks including LangGraph, PydanticAI, or Microsoft Agent Framework, and with MCP, A2A, command-line tools, or microservices.
• Experience with LangSmith, Arize, Braintrust, OpenTelemetry-based tracing, or AI feature A/B testing.
• Exposure to insurance, claims, or automotive repair domains.
