Transmission Planning Manager (Electric Utility)

Location: Hybrid role based at the Santa Ana Service Center; employees are generally required to work and reside in California. The role may require extended work at alternate SCE service-territory locations and up to 25% travel and field work.

Salary: $143,900–$215,800 per year.

What you will do

• Manage moderately complex transmission and distribution projects through initiation, planning, execution, control, and closure.
• Lead project scope, schedules, budgets, milestones, status reporting, risks, documentation, and system closeout.
• Plan and execute electric utility projects involving wildfire mitigation, infrastructure replacement, load growth, poles, line upgrades, maintenance, and installations.
• Perform complex power flow and fault analysis to determine transmission-line system impacts and requirements.
• Coordinate engineering, licensing, procurement, construction, materials, public affairs, local governments, and external customers.
• Facilitate development plans, work packages, testing procedures, energization sequences, regulatory filings, and safety documentation.

Requirements

• At least seven years of project management experience.
• Ability to manage projects under time constraints, shifting priorities, and limited supervision while making critical decisions.
• Ability to lead stakeholders, collaborate with senior leadership and peer project managers, and provide recommendations.
• Experience or capability in complex project planning, execution, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
• Ability to protect company assets and properly manage confidential, sensitive, and private customer information.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Engineering, or a related field.
• PMP certification or a Project Management Certificate.
• Planning or construction experience with an electric utility and experience in construction project management.
• Experience reading and interpreting construction maps and plans.
• Experience leading large capital projects and coordinating multiple deliverables, presentations, meetings, status reporting, and timely delivery.
• Experience creating reports, graphs, presentations, non-standard reports, records, logs, document files, and project tracking databases.
• Experience with SharePoint, BI dashboards, data analytics, Microsoft Office, and Copilot.
• Experience integrating cross-functional work, managing risks, executing business plans, communicating information, and serving internal and external customers.
