Sr. Software Engineer (Yocto)

Location: Mounds View, Minnesota, United States of America. Onsite, with a minimum of 4 days per week onsite.

Salary: USD 124,800–187,200 per year. The application window is anticipated to close on 9 November 2026.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain platform software and build infrastructure.
• Create and support Yocto-based Linux distributions for varied hardware targets.
• Create CI/CD pipelines integrated with security and functionality automation tools.
• Support secure networking, secure boot, OS update mechanisms, and platform support for Docker-based applications.
• Collaborate with product teams to define platform capabilities.
• Develop and document platform aspects required for regulatory approval.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a PhD with 0 years of relevant experience.
• Experience configuring and customizing Linux.
• Experience creating Yocto-based Linux distributions.
• Hands-on experience with security principles and best practices, including secure boot and software security hardening.
• Experience with containerization technologies, particularly Docker.
• Practical experience integrating and optimizing NVIDIA drivers and related GPU software stacks within Linux and Yocto-based systems.
• Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at the time of hire and throughout employment; sponsorship is offered only for Principal-level roles and above.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Python, C++, Bash, or similar languages.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, build automation, package management, and collaborative development workflows.
• Experience working effectively in complex, multidisciplinary engineering environments.
• Understanding of network protocols and services.
• Familiarity with compliance standards and security frameworks relevant to medical device software, including HIPAA and FDA regulations.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and proactive solution-finding skills.
• Experience serving as a subject matter expert on operating system platform best practices and mentoring junior team members and internal stakeholders.
